The Camel File
by Ray Sturtivant I.S.O. and Gordon Page

Flown from mid-1917 by the Royal Flying Corps, the Royal Naval Air Service and later the Royal Air Force, the Sopwith Camel was one of the foremost Allied fighters during the latter part of the First World War. With hundreds of victories to its credit, it was flown by many famous names of the period. Developed from the Sopwith Pup, it was to serve with twenty front line squadrons on the Western Front and in Italy, and was still in full service at them armistice.

The result of many year of detailed research in the Public Record Office, the RAF Museum, the FAA Museum and elsewhere, the book lists all known surviving information on the individual histories of over 6,000 Camels built or rebuilt, including details of victories and losses. Appendices include comprehensive details of the squadrons and other units with which the Camel served, as well as its use by other air forces, and a detailed index contains the names of 3,000 Camel pilots.

272 pages including nearly 200 photographs and 17 pages of general arrangement drawings by Mick Davis plus a summary of unit and other markings.
